On this Small Group Island Tour by comfortable air-conditioned minibus with our local authorized English speaking guide you will see more of Rhodes island from locals perspective. We will start with Filerimos monastery, which in addition to the panoramic view of the Aegean Sea, is an important archaeological site. Here once stood the Acropolis of the Ancient Ialyssos with an important temple dedicated to Athena Polias. The hill took its name from a monk who came from Jerusalem in the 13th century bringing with him an icon of the Blessed Virgin painted by the Apostle Luke. Grab some bread from your breakfast table, the peacocks who live there will be happy to get some treat in exchange for the photos.
Butterfly Valley not to be missed as well. Every year, at the end of the wet season (late May), thousands of butterflies attracted by the scent of the oriental sweet-gum trees cover the entire landscape. It’s a very unique experience and you should definitely try to see it.
Afterwards we will head to Seven Springs – a small secret paradise, with lots of pine trees and amazing flow of crystal water, surrounded by greenery that reveals the greatness of nature. This stunning place has seven sparkling springs and a few rivers, which flows whole year and never dry even in the very hot summer season. All of them form a lake, which was built by the Italians primarily in order to provide the nearby village Kolympia with fresh water. This is THE PLACE to cool down even in the highest heat of the summer, and to enjoy a refreshing, magical scenery.
Once we finished admiring this natural phenomenon, it’s time to see one of the most popular beaches in Rhodes – Tsambika Beach! This unspoiled gem lays under the imposing rock where it stands the miraculous Monastery of Tsambika, which has always been a pilgrimage destination for women who are having difficulties conceiving. While our guide will tell you all the story, you’ll be able to take photos of this most beloved beach on the island.
On our way to Kalithea Springs, we will make a stop at traditional family owned ceramic workshop, where you’ll see how the traditional artistic ceramics are made, and you’ll have a chance, if you like, to purchase some souvenirs with huge discounts.
And now it’s time to relax! Kalithea beach and the surrounding area are beloved by everyone due to their extraordinary beauty and rich history – the name “Kalithea” means “good view,” which is what you will see as soon as you arrive at Kalithea Springs! The area features enchanting historical buildings that were once medicinal baths during the Italian era in Rhodes. The elegant blend of Italian and Arabic architecture surrounded by breezy evergreen and palm groves is a feast for the eyes.
You will have 2 hours free time here to swim, sunbath, or simply enjoy the view while having a coffee or a snack.
